Santa Rosa Fire Departments are the following 8: City of Milton Fire Department ,Holley - Navarre Fire Protection District, Munson Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Navarre Beach Fire Department, Skyline Fire & Rescue District, Inc., Gulf Breeze Fire – Rescue, Midway Fire District, Naval Air Station Whiting Field Fire Department, Pace Volunteer Fire Department, and Town of Jay Volunteer Fire Department.

The Midway Fire District incorporated in September 1963 and served as a volunteer fire department until 1982. Firefighters are on duty 24 hours a day and seven days a week on three 24 hour shifts. The Midway Fire District operates with the latest equipment this includes the purchase of LifePak 12 heart monitors from Physio Control and a LifeNet Receiving Station from Medtronic allowing paramedics to transmit EKGs from the field to the emergency room through a cell phone or hard line. Cell phone transmission takes approximately 90 seconds, but hard lines take only 30 seconds.

The Midway Fire Districts also operates with fire trucks such as the Midway Truck 20 which seats four firefighters, comes with a solid, hot-dipped, galvanized 100' aerial ladder that can be remotely controlled up to 300' away, and 111' of ground ladders. It carries 500 gallons of water and has a 1500 GPM rated pump. Other features include an 8kw generator, LED light package, rear and side-view cameras, and a collision warning system with sensors on the rear that audibly tells the driver when he is too close to an object when backing.

The City of Milton Fire Department provides professional and efficient fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention, and public education the community of Santa Rosa County . The City of Milton Fire Department is formed by a staff of 16. Three rotating 24-hour shifts of five members with a Fire Chief operate yearly to insure the safety of the community. Each one of the three shifts has a Captain, a Lieutenant, and three Firefighters. The department has 3 pumpers, a mini-pumper rescue vehicle, two staff vehicles, and a rescue boat. This station provides sleeping and living quarters for the on-duty shift, administrative office of the Fire Chief, storage for the fire apparatus, and storage for all fire department equipment. T
